The idea of revisiting stories previously told in order to cast new light and reshape the domineering patriarchal and masculine narrative has always intrigued me as textile practitioner.
Writer’s use word to write their stories, I have used my Creative design thinking and practical expertise to re-tell Medusa’s story on the fabric. While reading Medusa’s story I have felt personally connected to every aspect of the myth of Medusa, which gave birth to the concept of “Medusa and me” for my FMP.
My design therefore aims to be a tribute to Medusa as a woman and a further celebration of this contemporary period of change - of searching for and authentically uncovering the truth within the past.
